Schema Health Check
Check the structured data on your Shopify storefront's pages from the QueryCatch Shopify app, so they can show rich results in Google.
Schema Health Check Structured data is code in a page, usually written as [[gloss:json-ld|JSON-LD]], that tells Google what the page is: a product with a price, an article with a date, or your business and its details. Google uses it to show [[gloss:rich-results|rich results]], such as prices, ratings and images beside your listing. The Schema Health Check in the QueryCatch Shopify app reads the structured data on your storefront's pages and shows which pages have what they need, which are missing something, and which have none. In the app it's called Schema markup. Choose Schema markup in the app's menu in your Shopify admin, or click Open on the Schema markup tile of the app's dashboard. Running a scan Click Run scan. Once you've scanned, the button reads Re-run scan.. QueryCatch finds your storefront's pages from your sitemap (or, if your store has no sitemap, from your home page, products and collections), then reads the structured data on each one. While it works, the page shows how many pages it has checked.. When the scan finishes, the results appear and are saved. A scan never runs on a schedule: it runs when it's started here, from the app's dashboard or through a connected AI assistant, so the page shows your last results until the next scan.. Fix what the results show in your theme, or in the app that adds your structured data, then run the scan again to check. If you leave the page during a scan, it carries on from where it stopped the next time you open it. A scan checks up to 2,000 pages; on a larger storefront the page says it has checked the first 2,000. /assets/documentation/schema-health-check/schema-markup-results.webp Reading the results Each page gets one of three results: Valid: the page has the structured data it should, with its key details filled in.. Issues: the page has structured data, but it's missing a key detail, or a block of it is broken and can't be read.. Missing: the page has no structured data, or not the kind it needs, such as a product page without Product markup. A page QueryCatch couldn't load also shows as Missing, with the issue "Page could not be fetched". Your schema health score is the share of your pages that are Valid: 31 valid pages out of 44 scores 70. It also counts towards the SEO Health score on the app's dashboard. Click Valid, Issues or Missing to show only those pages, and click it again to show them all. The search box finds pages by their address, or by a type of structured data such as Product. From your second scan on, the page also shows how each count has changed since the scan before. The table lists each page with its type (Product, Collection, Page, Article, Blog or Other; your home page shows as Other), its result, the types of structured data found on it, and what's wrong. View page opens the page on your storefront in a new tab. /assets/documentation/schema-health-check/pages-with-issues.webp What it checks Product pages need [[gloss:product-structured-data|Product markup]] with a name, an image and offers (the price).. Blog articles need [[gloss:article-structured-data|Article, BlogPosting or NewsArticle markup]] with a headline, an image and the date it was published.. Every other page, including your home page, collections and pages, is Valid with any structured data at all, such as Organization, WebSite, BreadcrumbList or CollectionPage.. On any page, a block of JSON-LD that can't be read is flagged as an issue, because Google ignores broken markup. QueryCatch reads the HTML your storefront sends before any JavaScript runs. Structured data that your theme or another app adds later with JavaScript isn't seen, so such a page can show as Missing even though Google finds markup on it. Check it with Google's Rich Results Test before you change anything. Requirements The QueryCatch app, installed from the Shopify App Store. QueryCatch Pro, or the older Essential or Grow plan.
