AI Product Content Optimiser

Check and rewrite the description of every Shopify product from the QueryCatch Shopify app, with its focus keyword checked and in your brand voice.

AI Product Content Optimiser Product pages are where shoppers decide to buy, yet their descriptions are often empty, thin or copied from a supplier. The AI Product Content Optimiser in the QueryCatch Shopify app checks the description of every live product in your store, scores it, and helps you rewrite it with AI in your brand voice, without leaving your Shopify admin. In the app it's called Products. Choose Products in the app's menu in your Shopify admin, or click Open on the Product content tile of the app's dashboard. It works on each product's description, and its Optimise window also lets you edit the product's search snippet: the same meta title and description the AI Meta Data Optimiser edits. How products are checked QueryCatch reads every active, published product in your store. Each product's name is its focus keyword, exactly as you wrote it, and the check finds it in your description whatever its capitals or punctuation. Each product then gets one of four results: Optimised: the description is at least 20 words long and mentions the focus keyword.. No keyword: the description is at least 20 words long, but the focus keyword isn't in it.. Too short: the description has fewer than 20 words.. Missing: the product has no description. A product scores 100 when it's Optimised, 70 with no keyword, 40 when it's too short and 0 when its description is missing. Your content score is the average across your products, and it also counts towards the SEO Health score on the app's dashboard. Click a result, such as No keyword, to show only those products, and click it again to show them all. The search box finds products by name, handle or focus keyword. Your last scan is saved, so the page opens on it straight away. QueryCatch scans your products again by itself when the saved scan is more than a day old, or when you click Refresh. On a very large catalogue, the page says when it's showing only the first products it could scan. /assets/documentation/product-content-optimiser/product-content-health.webp Optimising a product Click Optimise on a product's row. The Optimise product window opens with the product's search snippet, its focus keyword and its description.. Check the focus keyword line: it counts how many times the keyword appears in your description, and warns you when it doesn't appear at all.. Below the editor, next to Optimise with AI, choose an action (see below), or edit the description yourself.. Edit the result in the editor, whose toolbar has bold, italic, underline, headings, bulleted and numbered lists, and links.. Click Save to Shopify. Saving from this window writes the description as the editor shows it, even if you only changed the search snippet, and cleans it of anything unsafe before it reaches your store. /assets/documentation/product-content-optimiser/optimise-product.webp Under the editor, the word count shows how long your description is against the 150 to 400 words a product description usually needs, and the AI writes towards that length. The product's name is the page's main heading, so the editor's headings are H2 and H3 only. Saving from this window replaces the product's description in Shopify with the editor's version, even if you only changed the search snippet. The editor keeps text with bold, italic and underline, H2 and H3 headings, lists and links. Links are saved to open in a new tab and marked nofollow, which asks search engines not to follow them. A link that already has its own setting for either keeps that setting. Images and videos are removed, other headings become ordinary paragraphs, styling such as text colours is removed, and tables lose their layout, with their cells run together. For a product whose description has any of these, change the description in Shopify and its search snippet on the app's Meta data page. Check the description before you click Save to Shopify. The Optimise with AI actions These actions let you make the smallest change that fixes what's wrong, instead of rewriting good copy every time. An action that doesn't fit your description is shown but can't be clicked. Add keyword: works the focus keyword into one or two sentences and leaves the rest as it is. You can use it when your description has text but doesn't mention the keyword.. Shorten: removes repeated and unneeded lines to bring the description towards 150 to 400 words, keeping every selling point. You can use it when your description is over 400 words.. Extend: keeps your description and adds a sentence or a short paragraph. You can use it when your description has text and is no more than 400 words.. Full rewrite: writes a new description of about 150 to 400 words in plain paragraphs, building on what's there. When the description is empty, this button reads Write content. /assets/documentation/product-content-optimiser/optimise-with-ai.webp Add keyword, Shorten and Extend are told to keep your H2 and H3 headings, links and lists, but may leave out links to other websites, so check them before you save. Full rewrite returns plain paragraphs, so it replaces any headings, lists or links. Full rewrite and Extend use the product's details (its type, vendor, tags and options) so the copy fits the product, and the AI is told not to make up specifications. Every action follows the voice you've set for the AI Product Content Optimiser on the app's Brand voice page. If Add keyword can't place the keyword, the window says so, so you can try again or add it yourself. If an answer from Add keyword, Shorten or Extend looks cut short, keeping too little of your description, QueryCatch discards it and asks you to try again. Nothing reaches your store until you click Save to Shopify. Search snippet (meta title and description) The top of the Optimise window shows the product's meta title and meta description, the text shoppers see in Google's results, with a preview of the result. Each box shows its length against the best range: 50 to 60 characters for a title, 120 to 155 for a description. Rewrite (Generate when the box is empty) writes a new one with AI. Shorten and Expand fix the length when it's outside the best range, and Add keyword appears when the box has text that doesn't mention the focus keyword. They're saved with your description when you click Save to Shopify, and changing the meta title never clears the meta description, or the other way round. Bulk edit with CSV To change many descriptions at once, export a CSV, edit it in a spreadsheet, then import it back. Both buttons work once the scan has finished, because the import is checked against your whole catalogue. Click Export CSV and choose All products, Missing content, Missing the keyword or Content too short. Each option shows how many products it holds.. Each row has the product's querycatch_id, product_title and url, its current description as HTML in current_body, and an empty new_body column.. Write the new description in new_body for each product you want to change. Keep the HTML tags to keep headings, links and lists, or type plain text: each line becomes its own paragraph.. Leave new_body blank to change nothing. A blank cell is always ignored, so an import can never clear a description.. Click Import CSV and choose the file (up to 20,000 rows and 10MB). Before anything is written, a review screen shows each change, any rows whose description has changed since you exported, going by the app's latest scan (left out unless you choose to apply them; click Refresh first if you've edited descriptions in Shopify), and any rows it rejected, with the reason.. Click Apply, which shows how many changes it will make, to save them to your products. Descriptions are cleaned of anything unsafe before they're written: embedded videos, maps and other embedded content are removed, and images are kept only when their address starts with https://cdn.shopify.com, and lose any size or styling set on them. Rows are matched by their querycatch_id, so don't edit that column, and leave current_body as it was exported: the import uses it to spot descriptions that have changed. Only new_body is applied. Requirements The QueryCatch app, installed from the Shopify App Store, with its permission to edit products. QueryCatch Pro, or the older Grow plan: on another plan, the page offers an upgrade instead Best practices Aim for 150 to 400 words: enough to describe the product and help it rank, without padding. Use the focus keyword once or twice, naturally. Lead with what the product does for the shopper, then the details: materials, sizes, fit and care. Read the AI's draft before you save: you always have the final say
