Broken Links
Find internal links on your Shopify store that point to pages that no longer exist (404s) or use insecure http, with the exact page each one sits on.
Broken Links A broken link is a link on your store that points to a page which no longer exists — it returns a '404 Not Found' (or '410 Gone') error. Dead ends frustrate shoppers, waste the budget Google spends crawling your store, and leak the SEO value of any links pointing at the missing page. Broken Links crawls your storefront, checks the internal links on every page, and lists each problem link alongside the exact page it was found on, so you can fix or remove it. How it works Click 'Run scan'. The tool discovers your published URLs from your sitemap, then visits each page and reads the internal links it points to.. For every link that points to a URL not already in your sitemap, it checks the page's HTTP status — confirming whether it really is a dead end before flagging it. It also flags any internal link written with http:// (see below).. Review the results: a score (the share of pages with no link issues), and a searchable table with one row per problem URL — its issue (404, 410 or insecure http), the page it was first found on, and how many pages link to it. Use the filter to switch between dead and insecure links.. Click the page count to see every page linking to that URL, then update or remove those links — and re-run the scan to confirm they're fixed. Insecure (http) links Your Shopify storefront is served over HTTPS, so an internal link written with http:// is insecure: browsers treat it as mixed content, and every click triggers a needless redirect to the https version, slowing the page and diluting link value. The scan flags these separately from dead links so you can change them to https:// (or a relative link). Only confirmed dead links are listed. A link we couldn't check (a timeout or temporary blip) is never flagged, and links returning other errors (such as 500 or 403) are noted separately as they're often temporary. External links are not checked. Accuracy and limits The scan reads each page's HTML, so links added by JavaScript menus may not be seen.. Links to your own store are checked; links to other websites are not.. Pages your storefront couldn't serve during the scan (password-protected, temporarily down) are skipped.. Large catalogues are capped to keep scans fast — the tool tells you when a cap was hit. Requirements A connected Shopify store with a public (not password-protected) storefront. Essential plan or above — bundled with H1 Health and Orphan Pages as a storefront-crawl tool. Available inside the Shopify admin as an embedded appDocumentation
