Manage WordPress plugins, themes, and core updates through Kinsta integration
Plugins Management The Plugins Management feature allows you to manage WordPress plugins, themes, and core updates directly from QueryCatch through Kinsta hosting integration. No need to log into WordPress admin or Kinsta dashboard for routine maintenance. This feature requires Kinsta hosting integration. It will not work with other hosting providers or direct WordPress connections. Setting Up Kinsta Integration There are two ways to connect Kinsta for plugin management: Method 1: Permanent Integration (Recommended) Go to Integrations page. Connect Kinsta using your API key. Select your site from the list. Plugin management will be available automatically Method 2: Direct Connection For temporary access or testing: Navigate to the Plugins page. Enter your Kinsta API Key. Enter your Environment ID from MyKinsta. Click Connect to access plugin management Direct connections support URL parameters. Bookmark URLs like: /plugins?apiKey=xxx&envId=xxx for quick access. Managing Plugins Viewing Plugin Information Each plugin displays: Plugin name and description. Current version installed. Latest available version. Status (Active/Inactive). Update availability indicator Individual Plugin Actions Activate - Enable an inactive plugin. Deactivate - Disable an active plugin. Update - Upgrade to the latest version Bulk Plugin Updates To update multiple plugins at once: Click 'Select All with Updates' or manually select plugins. Click 'Update Selected' button. Note the operation ID provided. Updates run in the background (may take several minutes) Managing Themes Switch to the Themes tab to manage WordPress themes with similar functionality: View all installed themes. See current version and update availability. Activate different themes. Update themes individually or in bulk Always test theme changes in a staging environment first, as they can significantly affect your site's appearance. WordPress Core Updates The WordPress Core section shows: Current WordPress version. Latest available version. One-click update button when updates are available WordPress core updates are critical for security. Apply them promptly after testing in staging. Understanding Status Indicators ๐ข Green 'Up to Date' - No updates available. ๐ด Red 'Update Available' - New version ready to install. Active badge - Plugin/theme is currently enabled. Inactive badge - Plugin/theme is installed but disabled Best Practices Update Strategy Always backup before major updates. Test updates in staging environment first. Update plugins one at a time if issues are suspected. Keep WordPress core updated for security. Review plugin compatibility before WordPress major updates Security Considerations Remove unused plugins and themes. Keep all components updated. Use reputable plugins from trusted sources. Monitor for security advisories Troubleshooting Connection Issues Verify Kinsta API key is correct. Check Environment ID matches your site. Ensure API key has necessary permissions. Try reconnecting through Integrations page Update Failures Check Kinsta dashboard for error details. Verify sufficient disk space. Ensure no maintenance mode is active.
