Understanding Keyword Metrics Keyword Density Keyword density measures how frequently a keyword appears relative to the total word count on a page. It's expressed as a percentage: Calculated as: (keyword occurrences ÷ total words) × 100. Averaged across all pages where the keyword appears. Ideal range: 1%–2% for most keywords. Below 0.5% may indicate underuse. Above 3% risks over-optimization penalties Word Count Types Keywords are categorized by word count with color-coded badges: 1-word (green) — Broad, high-volume terms (e.g., "marketing", "analytics"). 2-word (blue) — Common phrases (e.g., "content marketing", "search optimization"). 3-word (purple) — Targeted phrases (e.g., "keyword density analysis", "meta tag optimization"). 4-word (pink) — Long-tail phrases with higher conversion potential (e.g., "search engine optimization tips") Page Mapping Page mapping shows which keywords appear on which pages. This helps you: Identify keyword cannibalization — multiple pages competing for the same keyword. Find content gaps — keywords that should appear on more pages. Understand topical relevance — which pages are most keyword-rich. Plan internal linking — connect pages that share keyword themes Mobile Experience The Keyword Research tool is fully responsive. On mobile devices, the table layout switches to a card-based view: Each keyword appears as a collapsible card. Key stats (count, density, pages) are visible at a glance. Tap to expand and see full details, pages list, and SEO tips. Filter buttons and search work the same as desktop. All sorting options remain available Keyword Strategy Best Practices Review your keyword list regularly to identify new opportunities and over-optimized terms. Focus on maintaining keyword density in the 1%–2% optimal range. Use multi-word phrases (2-word and 3-word) for more targeted traffic. Map each important keyword to a primary page to avoid cannibalization. Ensure high-priority keywords appear in page titles, H1 headings, and meta descriptions. Use the AI analysis feature for actionable optimization recommendations. Balance single keywords with long-tail phrases for a comprehensive strategy Common Issues and Solutions No Keywords Showing Ensure your Google Search Console integration is connected and active. Check that your website pages have been analyzed — run a new analysis if needed. Verify that your pages contain sufficient text content for keyword extraction High Density Warnings Density above 3% is flagged as potential keyword stuffing. Review the pages where the keyword appears and reduce repetition. Replace some instances with synonyms or related phrases. Ensure the content reads naturally for users, not just search engines Missing Multi-Word Phrases Multi-word phrases are only detected when they appear on multiple pages. Short or thin content pages may not generate enough phrase data. Try adding more detailed content to key pages to surface additional phrases Combine Keyword Research with the Blog Topic Generator to turn your keyword data into AI-powered blog outlines, or use it alongside Meta Title and Meta Description optimization to ensure your top keywords appear in the right places.Documentation
